I’m Huia, founder of "The Grind: Gym, Surf, Run” a health coaching brand born from my passion for movement, resilience, and helping people create lives they’re excited to wake up to. With a background as a paediatric registered nurse and over a decade of my own fitness journey, I’ve learned first hand that true health is physical, mental, spiritual and emotional.
I specialise in functional strength, surf fitness, and sustainable transformation for those who want more than quick fixes. I love guiding people through not just the training, but the mindset shifts that create lasting change. Whether you’re returning from injury, chasing performance goals, or simply wanting to feel powerful in your own skin, I’m here to build a plan that fits your body, your lifestyle, and your version of “the grind".
“The Grind” is about discipline and joy of becoming the strongest version of yourself. My style blends evidence-based programming with a deep respect for individual differences. No cookie-cutter plans here, just honest coaching that helps you thrive inside and outside the gym.
Outside of coaching, you’ll usually find me paddling out for a surf, pounding the pavement for some extra kms or creating content to share real, raw insights from my own lifestyle and fitness journey. I’m driven by curiosity, creativity, and the ocean. I believe a good company, food and a sunrise surf session can fix almost anything. Community, laughter, and living with purpose are non-negotiables in my life. I’m big on personal growth and building a lifestyle that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. The grind isn’t just my brand it’s how I live my life.
I promise to meet you where you’re at, listen deeply, and design programs that empower you physically and mentally. I’ll bring both science and real-life experience to help you become strong, confident, and capable. Not just in the gym, but in every part of your life. My coaching is honest, holistic, and always tailored to you.
