LONGEVITY
Everyone's talking about longevity. Here's what they're getting wrong.
The buzzword of 2026 is everywhere—podcasts, supplements, biohacking forums, social media feeds. But the real science is simpler, and closer to home, than the algorithm wants you to think.
Longevity is the phrase of the moment.
Peter Attia has built a movement around it. Lenny Kravitz is gracing magazine covers at 61 looking stronger than men half his age. Bryan Johnson is injecting himself with his son's plasma and live-streaming the experiment to thousands of followers.
The wellness industry has gone all-in. And most of it is noise. "The research doesn't lie: the biggest predictor of how well you age isn't your supplement stack. It's whether you can still move well, carry load, and recover from effort—at any age." A landmark study published this year confirmed what great coaches have known for decades:
Cardiorespiratory fitness and functional strength are the two most powerful levers for healthy aging.
Not NAD+ infusions.
Not expensive supplement protocols.
Not red light therapy.
Not cold plunging your way to immortality while your movement quality quietly declines.
These interventions can be valuable tools, but they're exactly that—tools. They optimise a body that has already been conditioned through the fundamentals.
The Numbers
60% of people now cite longevity as their primary fitness motivation
2x greater mortality risk from low muscle strength than from high cholesterol
167 hours every week that either support or undermine your one hour in the gym
The Real Longevity Protocol
The problem with today's longevity conversation is that it keeps drifting toward expensive interventions and away from boring, effective fundamentals.
You don't need to measure your VO₂ max in a laboratory.
You need to be able to:
Pick something heavy up from the floor
Walk uphill without losing your breath
Carry your groceries without discomfort
Get up from the ground without using your hands
Recover quickly from physical effort
These aren't fitness tests.
They're previews of your next 30 years.
"Longevity isn't a destination you arrive at with the right protocol. It's the daily accumulation of how you move, rest, and load your body—especially in the 167 hours you're not training."
Why Mahi Approaches Things Differently
At Mahi, we don't chase trends.
We've spent more than two decades working with real people:
Post-surgery
Post-injury
Post-40
Post-the-point-where-generic-programs-still-work
And the principles haven't changed.
Assess what's actually happening in the body.
Correct what's creating the leaks.
Build on a foundation that holds.
Make it fit your real life.
That's not a hack.
It's coaching.
Done properly.
Complimentary Movement Assessment
If you'd like to understand where you actually stand—not where your wearable tells you that you stand—we'd love to help.
Book a complimentary movement assessment with our team.
No pitch.
No pressure.
Just an honest look at what's working, what isn't, and where your biggest opportunities for long-term health and performance lie.
